Mari Kokebe University

Equal in stature to the Ivy League, fundamentally different in setup. An eighteen-course Common Core, six academies of work, wealth and enterprise — and a credential ladder where every course is open to every reader, bredren or not.

No one turned away · the on-ramp

The Literacy Bridge

Some adults arrive reading at a first-grade level — little reading, less writing. They are not excluded; they are on-ramped. The Bridge carries a learner from their true starting point to the threshold of the Navigator-tier Common Knowledge module. It is patient, oral-first, and free of shame.

Stage 1

Sounds & Marks

Letters, sounds, and how marks become words. Read aloud with a guide; nothing assumed. Oral recitation counts as much as the written word.

Stage 2

Words & Sentences

Sight words, phonics in context, handwriting and keyboard. Short real texts — a label, a letter, a receipt — before any textbook.

Stage 3

Paragraphs & Meaning

Reading for the idea, not just the word. Finding the main point, retelling it in your own voice, asking the text a question.

Where the Bridge leads: to the Common Knowledge module — and from there to the ladder. Everyone climbs; no one starts in the dark. Begin the Bridge →
The leadership standard: the Bridge is a beginning, not a ceiling. Fraternity leadership ranks require demonstrated mastery — a leader must clear the Common Knowledge module by full coursework or by passing the test-out, and the higher gates beyond it. Compassion opens the door; quality holds the gavel.
The Navigator foundation · required to advance past Tier 1

The Common Knowledge Module

Everything an adult needs to function, reason, and rise — built to a GED-equivalent standard except mathematics, which stops at basic algebra and two-variable systems. Pass it by coursework, or test out. Clear it — either way — to move past Navigator.

The special focus · literacy above all

Reading the Word, and Reading the World

Literature does not exist in a vacuum. This module trains prose, figurative language, and contextual reading — and bias training: how to read in the context of the author's time, place, and interest. Not everything begins and ends with the word on the page.

Already know this?

Test Out of the Module

Demonstrate mastery and clear the gate in one sitting — the same standard, compressed. Need intensive help instead? The coursework track is that help: go slow, get guided, arrive whole.

The Common Core — Eighteen Doors That Open From the Inside

Required of every student: one analytical grammar of power, wealth, law, land, and information. Courses open in sequence — each completion satisfies the next course's prerequisite and mints +1 $IN (Insight). Open to all readers; ranking is tracked through the site whether or not you ever join the fraternity.

Certificate in Community Power & Institutional Survival

The entry credential — three terms plus capstone, and the gate to Navigator (Tier 1). The first thing a student builds is community infrastructure: every cohort leaves behind an artifact the next generation can build upon.

Term One

Power & Wealth

· Power, Institutions and How Society Works
· Political Economy of Race and Colonialism
· Wealth, Property and Intergenerational Economics
· Research, Statistics and Information Verification

Term Two

Law & Administration

· Community Accounting and Institutional Finance
· Law for Everyday Institutional Survival
· AI and Digital Independence
· Local Government and Civic Administration

Term Three

Land & Coalition

· Housing, Land and the Built Environment
· Cooperative Economics and Shared Ownership
· Journalism and Community Documentation
· Coalition Governance and Conflict Resolution

The capstone (mandatory): each student or circle creates a durable artifact — a community archive, a family-estate guide, a neighborhood economic map, a small-business cooperative plan, a local-government accountability report, a bilingual civic guide, a tribal data-governance policy, a community newspaper, or an organizational financial-control system. Certificate + three event attendances qualifies Navigator and issues the member's wallet.

School of Work, Wealth and Enterprise — Six Academies

The earning engine: its output is not a transcript but an income. Concentrated where the labor market pays without a bachelor's degree — with earn-while-learning as the directional law. No student's route to a credential runs through accumulating debt.

Academy 1 · 11 courses

Life & Household Management

Household systems as economic infrastructure: the personal financial operating system, credit and banking, housing decisions, family recordkeeping, provisioning, emergency readiness.

Academy 2 · 10 + EA pathway

Money, Taxation & Economic Systems

The IRS Enrolled Agent route — the highest credential the IRS grants, no degree required. Comparative economic systems; mutual economics traditions of our own communities.

Academy 3 · 16 courses

Business & Cooperative Enterprise

No imaginary business plans — test, launch, acquire, or improve a real enterprise. Business Launch Studio capstone: a launch-ready registered business.

Academy 4 · 24 pathways

White-Collar Certification

Bookkeeping, tax preparation, records and archives, office technology — certification + portfolio + supervised experience + references + professional conduct.

Academy 5 · 24 pathways

Trades, Technology & Infrastructure

Universal Trades Foundation, then the Registered Apprenticeship pipeline: paid employment, mentoring, wage progression, portable credential.

Academy 6 · 9 courses

Career Mobility & Professional Practice

Competency transcripts and the worker→owner progression — the ladder looping back into the institution.

The four-evidence capstone: no student completes an occupational pathway on quizzes alone. Every graduate leaves with (1) an external credential or apprenticeship record, (2) a portfolio, (3) verified supervised experience, (4) a practical income plan. A graduate without an income plan is an unfinished product.
The newsletter-circle loop: monthly theme → dossier → circles → the strongest circle becomes an assessed course → the best work returns to the newspaper and mints $VO. Member labor becomes curriculum — the catalog regenerates bottom-up.

The Credential Ladder & the Tier Gates

Five levels, each independently valuable and independently credentialed. Stopping after Level 1 with a working household system is success, not attrition. The ladder locks to the progression spine at three thresholds — the university's entire ascension jurisdiction (Tiers 0–3).

The leadership standard: the Literacy Bridge ensures no one is turned away — but only quality reaches fraternity leadership ranks. Leadership requires demonstrated mastery: the Common Knowledge module cleared (by coursework or test-out), the First-Year Certificate, and the higher gates — never a bypass. Compassion opens the door; quality holds the gavel.

The Regalia Shelf

Soulbound regalia — engraved with the member's name and lineage, struck only for ranks, paths, and specialties already earned. Purchasable only with $DON (Donation Coin), the sole currency accepted for physical goods.

The Duplication Law — posted in every tribe room

If a bracelet or charm is duplicated, the bearer is immediately expelled unless foul play is proven. If the bearer is a Chief or holds leadership, every member below them is placed on hold — “rogues” — until they seek out and affirm a new leader under standard fraternity rules.

The half-credit law

Not a Bredren? Your Work Still Counts.

The university is open to every reader by design — literacy, legal understanding, and economic capability belong to the whole community, not only the ranked. Study as a guest of the platform and the site tracks your rank and record in full. If you later answer The Call and join the fraternity, your banked accomplishments are awarded into the fraternity record at half credit.
