Honduras

Honduras won independence from Spain in 1821 and has been its own republic since 1838, shaped by mining towns and coastal banana enclaves.

The Land Before

Lenca chiefdoms and the Maya city of Copán at its southern frontier; the Garifuna arrived in 1797, exiled from St. Vincent.
